In June 2010 I was unemployed & desperate for money since my fiance also lost his job I received an sms saying I won 95 000 in the yearly nokia promotion well I called the number, I was told to go buy a telkom voucher worth 500 to activate my ticket, because of that i then went to google to check the facts to find it was a scam. This year i received another one saying the same thing. I am sick of it firstly i know its a scam but what about other people out the & what are u doing as nokia because they are dragging ur name in the mud, peoples dreams are being shattered. Heres the number they said i should call :073 44 89 223 & the ticket number is : NKZA 0166. I suggest u get these dogs & get to the bottom of this. No number works without being ricad.

On the 1 April in early morning I got a sms saying I won195 000 in the yearly nokia promotion and I needed to phone the following number 0732409204 I need to speak to Mrs S Khumalo well I called the number, I was told to go buy a telkom voucher worth 200 to activate my ticket, then I got another call form the number 0731540222 I needed to pay money into an account from FNB Banking details as follows : Miss Noxolo Roissisu AC 62304119036 Contact Dr Louis 0836226421 , after a while a got phone call telling me that it is the wrong account I rather need to pay the money into : D Ricnardo ACC 62285218569 According to sms I needed to pay in the money because it was for insurance on the money which I have won . After a few hours I got sms tell me that they got a fax form SARS – I need to pay other amount R4680.00 the Goverment for the tax . No number works without being ricad. I have given you cellphone number and account number can somebody please do something regarding this.

I also received an sms on my Vodacom Dongle’s number at 04:35 in the morning. This is what it read: “Congratulations! !your cell number was among the lucky winners in the Nokia yearly PROMOTION 2011. You won,R95,000 Ticket number.E019. contact your claim agent on: 0738126235 for your cash prize” I called the number and the guy on the other side said to call back in 5 minutes. When I called, he immediately said that I am the lucky winner and there are 3 ways of getting the cash, no 1 was to go to the U.K. to collect the cheque or else to give him my banking details so that they can deposit the cash into my bank account. Fortunately the signal got interrupted and I couldn’t continue with the call. I immediately started Googling it to find out and that’s how I got to this site with complaints. Nokia & MTN should do something about this, because they seem to like MTN Network to call them back on. Something should be done about this, cause innocent people are just going to fall prey to this scam!

Hi I also received the congratulation message at 11:14 Last night saying I have won R95 000.00 on ticket no: 0059 for claims contact Mr Chris on 083 504 9411. I am a bit of a sceptic so my first thought was that this is a scam similar to the lotto one. So I googled it first to see as I’m not aware of any promotions of such sort. And as I thought this was a scam. But I think Carte Blanch must be asked to also look into this scam as from all the complaints it looks like Nokia is struggeling to get this under control?

I received an sms this morning (May 24, 2011) from +27711822775 From Nokia Promotion saying I had won R150 000 on the ticket number WN116 and was told to contact Mr Clifford on 0719954944 for activation and payment. Out of curiosity I phoned the number and spoke to a man who said I must buy R110 Vodacom Voucher, which I don’t have to load, and to sms my name, surname, ticket number, voucher number and bank and bank account number to him. I have reported the incident to Vodacom and was assured that it is a scam. It seems a lot of people are falling victim to this.
I have received the exact same sms from Mr Clifford. But he didn’t want my bank account number only my adress so that they can deliver a cheque to me.

Hi all. I guess we all get this SMS. Please don’t entertain them. If you have won something from a company like Nokia, then you should be contacted telephonically & be asked to come to one of the offices where all the prize details will be confirmed & you shouldn’t even be asked to pay a single cent to claim a prize. I recently won a trip to the Ice Hotel in Sweden for a week worth R 95 000. I was called in to the company where the prize details where confirmed, I didn’t not pay a single cent in claiming the prize & I enjoyed the trip. The only thing I had to pay for was my own travel insurance which was about R 800.00 from a company of my choice. So don’t become a victim of such especially if you are desperate for cash.

Hello, On Monday I received a sms at 1.19am, 04 july Saying NOKIA congratulations, you have won (R250 000.00) from NOKIA YEARLY PROMO TICKET NUMBER (SA3NK) CALL A MR. WILLIAMS ON 0721329744 for activation and payment. I called and was told from This MR. williams that he wanted my personal i.d. number and my NOkia serial number and all details where I stay to deliver the cheque in 6hours after activation and to give hom a copy of my i.d. so that the couriers could identfy me. I refused to give him banking details or other information, as I know this is a scam???????????? I do NOT use a nokia. But my husband does. HE did Not receive the sms. I did on my Samsung. Please check this out and let me know. I told him that I will report him to the cops. No reply yet.

I received an sms syaing that i have a R95000.00 and i should call Memory Dube on 0738508648 t claim my price and ticket number is 0166p, but funny enough the sms was sent from 0715355835 and i thought to myself, isn’t this dodgy. And my advise to everybody is, do not reply to any sms or email if you know that you did not enter into any competition because you caanot expect to win a price that you dont know where it comes from.

I received a sms today “Congratulations! Your mobile nmber won R950,000.00 in the nokia 2011 Mobile promotion. Call Dr. Micchelle Will on 0738452586 with your Ref no: NKO2 for cash claims” I then phoned the number and the lady answered Nokia claim department can I have your Ref no. I didn’t even say who I was or what i wanted I asked the lady if she can give the head office number of nokia and she gave me a number that does not even excits. Nokia office in the western cape province is 0861166542. Please man this is a scam and there are people that are desperate and they will fall for it just like i did. I received not 1 sms today but two! the funny thing about the scam sms’s that I received is that the first 1 said that I had won R165 000 in the nokia yearly promothing your Ref : NO X25RT11K Contact the agent Mrser on 073 240 9204, from No 071 141 2050 and then later on at 7:28am this morning another one but this time, it sait day I had won R175000. the additional R10 000 was probably to catch my attention. I then contacted the first one from my office phone and left that number for them to call me back – just to see what happens. I then contacted the second number 083 940 5748 and spoke to Joe. He confirmed that it is a Nokia promotion but when I asked why I had received 2 sms’ and both with different figures het mumbled and I couldn’t quite hear what he was saying. It sounded like he said that I hadn’t claimed the first amount and yet another sms was sent. I then asked where this Nokia promotion originates from and he didn’t answer and made out he could not hear me, so I asked where this Nokia company is from and referred to Vodawold in Midrand – to which he also did not respond. I then asked him why I had two sms’s with different values and asked him if this was a hoax. In the middle of a sentence the line went dead. Just be careful out there and do not always believe what you read. I thought it was suspicious yet curious to find out who is behind this scam. I really didn’t think someone would answer & I definately was not going to give out any personal info, I did not even give him my name or contact number and most definatley not my banking details either. We warned these okes are there to catch you! Be aware!
So true, like myself I asked him why don they call me if I have won and he said no do you want your money to be transferred by cheque or what. He was so aggressive he hang up on me when I was on him. So we better check out thie foreigners.
I just recieved a text message telling me I had won $275K. I was given an email address claimsdept@mobile.ac to contact with my reference number to claim my prize. Thank Goodness I google this first.

I checked the net to confirm my Suspicions. I see this has been going on for some time and it also appears that nokia has done very little about it. So tell us nokia, Don’t you plan on dong anything, or is this a strange marketing strategy??

i also received a scam sms 10.11 2011 very same modus operandi . i called the local newspaper to confirm the scam. i did call out of curiosity ,the person first answered then banged the phone . i called a second time the phone was on voicemail. Be warned and wary of these scunbags

I also received an sms this morning. My mobile number had apparently won R150,000 in the Nokia Global Promo, reference No: 0029. For Claims please contact Mr. Williams Smith on 0737782372. This sms was sent from 0820779101. These people should be caught, what happens to the unsuspecting victims out there???? And especially today where everyone is trying to make some extra bucks, its easy to be believe these idiots trying to rob you of your life savings. Don’t be bothered by these sms’s people, just ignore it!!
