I was reading a craigslist complaint re Ryan Wally (sp)…the poster stated they would love to hear of similar responses and I had two today! I posted and item for sale and this was my response, name was ‘Terry Bruce’. here it is. “Hi, Good to hear back from you. I am willing to pay your asking price. I will be paying you by money order as its the only way I can pay you at the moment. I would have loved to come take a look but I am presently out of town on an assignment. I will not be back in town soon. I don’t mind adding an extra fifty dollars so you can keep it in my favor, Please send me some pictures. I hope it is in good condition. Reply with your full name, cell phone number, and address where payment should be sent.I will let you know how I intend to go about the pick-up. Please take the posting off craigslist today and consider it sold to me. Expecting to hear from you soon. Thanks.”

i just received a response email like this off a craigslist ad. by Donald Bruce. Saying he’ll pay the asking price and an additional $50 dollars for me to pay the mover via money gram. he asked for my address, phone and full name. I came to believe this is a scam for when i said why don’t i just find out the shipping charge and mail it to you with a tracking number he said no that’s fine, I’ll have my mover pick it up.
I had a response from this same person telling me exactly the same thing. I replied telling him if he was truly interested in the item, he would have to contact me by phone. I’m waiting to see if I get a response.
I had a similar experience with a buyer by the name of Willson Bishop (willsonbishop@googlemail.com). He was going out of town to London and offered to pay by Cahiers Check or Money Order and then sent me and email stating that his assistant had made the cashiers check out for too much and could I wire him the extra back. I figured out what was going on- it is a fake money order and by the time the bank realises it he is long gone and you are responsible for paying the bank back. I emailed him back to tell him I knew what was going on and to get lost. I then recieved an email from a Mark Warner (markwarner@cluemail.com) telling me that he had been accidentally cc’d on an email to me from Willson Bishop and wanted to alert me to the scam and could I please email him back so that he knew I had received the warning. I googled this as well and it is all part of the scam. I am just not sure what the Mark Warner email was hoping to accomplish

I hope it is in good condition Reply with your full name, cell phone number, and address where payment should be sent.I will letI will let you know how I intend to go about the pick-up. Please take the posting off craigs list today and consider it sold to me.Expecting to hear from you soon. Thanks.”
hi im in that exact situation and i did howver send my adress and number… im sacred what do i do im 18 and this is the first time i do this craiglist stuff helpppp?
Found the same scam on Indeed.com over the weekend from Donald Rutherford seemed legit to me until he offered to pay me in advance and send extra money for me to send his assistant. Got an email from Mark Warner this morning warning me of the scam claiming he was copied on on email he sent to me. Just said “thanks for the warning” who knows they are prob the same person???
Indeed was for a Office Assistant but same story and names
posted a vacuum for sale on craigs list. contacted by wilson bishop who wanted to buy it and asked me to remove it from craigs list immediately. Agreed to pay by MO or Cashier’s check. Said he was going to london on vacation and his assistant would pick it up after the mo had cleared. Had another email saying his assistant had mailed me the payment but included too much as he got it mixed up with another transaction and asked me to send back the overage amount via western union. I sent my address and phone # before I became suspicious. I googled his name and was sent to this site and discovered others with the same experience. Scammers everywhere. So much for craigs list.
Got this today…for ad I placed. Hi, Good to hear back from you. I am willing to pay your asking price. I will be paying you by money order/cashiers check as its the only way I can pay you at the moment. I would have loved to come take a look but I am presently out of town on an assignment. I will not be back in town soon. I don’t mind adding an extra $50 so you can keep it in my favour,I hope it is in good condition. Reply with your full name, phone number, and address where payment should be sent too. I will also make arrangement for pick-up which will be after you must have received and cashed the payment. Please take the posting off craigs list today and consider it sold to me.
Exact same scenario. A Henry Kath emailed me and said he will pay an extra $40 for me to hold. He will pay by money order and arrange pickup after the MO has cleared. Almost the exact same message as all of you. I told him cash only and waiting for a reply. Don’t expect to hear from him after reading this forum. Be safe, stick with cash only on Craig’s List. Can’t believe it…. Scammers everywhere these days. And for the 18 year old up top asking for advice…. Always deal with cash and have a phone conversation before making a deal. If worried make sure someone is with you when the transaction occurs, and I would never give out my home address until after a conversation with the person. Most people will just pick a meeting spot if the merchandise is transportable.
Same thing this morning. London, assistant. Will pay by $ order and pay $30 extra. Needs my full name, address & phone #. No way! I too said cash only. Awaiting a response which I know I’ll never get. His name was Greg m then Greg Moris.
Tell me why I just googled “Thanks for the response.I am willing to pay your asking price.I will pay by money order as its the only way i can pay you at the moment” (thats what the so called buyer emailed me) i was very spectral at first, very. BUT THANK you, now i KNOW it’s a scammer, stupid scammer lol
Hi, like all you above, i put an add in Craiglist. Someone (G M ) emailed me first asking if item still available. I answered and advised it was, and then someone else got back to me (U Q ) advising to be glad it was still available and to be interested in the item but that would need to send a money order as travelling to London with work… his assistant would send me the payment by mail so he needed my name, address and phone number. He offered to pay and extra $30 for the hassle and delay as pick up would need to wait until he returned from the UK. This really made me suspicious and hence why I’ve done a google search and found this page.. Thank you all! I felt I had to put down my story too just so that more and more people are aware of what’s going on… I however have sent an email back asking for a cash payment, see what excuse he comes up with.. then I will just advise the item has been sold… Beware of these scammers, they are all over the place waiting on someone to fall for it! Keep safe! Cash is the way I guess…
Same thing just happened to me! Assistant was Lopez Hill, and the guy said he had to go on a business trip, offered 30 dollars extra. Name was Greg Moris.
