i have been working installing directv for a year now,i had to quit because of the dishonest actions with working for sub-contractors who recieve work orders thru mastec from directv. here is how it works:
1:customer orders from dtv….dtv sends to mastec..mastec sends to sub contractor company to issue to tech who have vaild tech #’s issued thru mastec after completeing a drug screen/background check..but the problem is that some companys use “ghost techs” in order to keep getting jobs from mastec,so you may not get your work orders issued to your tech number, you may get a different work order with different tech number..
2:the companys i worked do not offer local training,so you learn as you ride along with a person who gets the work.so you work for free as you learn..once you feel confortable doing the work they ghost you till you pass the drug screen and background check.. then they get your tech number along with as many jobs as they can under that said number to give to other “ghost techs”
now the pay is set up per example:
tier system…dish and first reciever…45.00-60.00$
other recievers…12.00-18.00$
and so on,as you can see you can make from 20.00-100.00$ plus per job,depending on how many jobs a day you get you can make money…
now the down side:
1:material cost to start 500.00-1500.00$ includes.5 types of wire small parts,personal hand tools,ladders,fuel for vehicle
2:pay cycle 4-6 weeks…turn in w/o wait 2 weeks to process,2-4 weeks to be paid by sub contractor
3:now the dishonesty starts,the charge backs for things you cant control
* fsr.when customer call looking for eta to job 35.00-50.00$ per call
*no reciever call back on broad band deca(internet device) 50.00-65.00 on device you install per work order issued by directv if your below 95% custormer satifaction 65.00,, 3.00$ for each reciever that doesnt ping directv for said 2 week of work week
* escrow money…money taken out of you ck to cover any damage or service work done on your jobs while employed by sub contractor 500.00-1000.00$ payable back to you 90 days after you leave said company
*no qc pic of your work 50.00-60.00
and last the threat of having said tech # NOT routed with work if you complain about anything to anyone about what you see,such as sub contractor being told to go and ping recievers with wireless device inorder to be paid by directv for reciever takling to direct tv
