I recently attempted to purchase 3 items totaling $104. I gave the cashier my coupon for $10.off 30,a family and friends 20% discount coupon and 2 Kohl’s cash coupons. The clerk was new and didn’t know what to do with the coupons. She asked the manager who was standing close by and training another cashier what to do. The manager didn’t look at me or address me. She simply stated “Tell her we don’t take those.” I felt like I had been slapped. Absolutely shocked. I simply picked up my coupons and Kohls cash and left. I bought my items at Kohls in Hiram Ga without any problems. I love Kohls and will continue to shop them; just not the Albany Ga. store.
Kohl’s prides itself on great customer service and I have always received wonderful service, but the Albany Ga store clerks could use some additional training. What these ladies mothers didn’t teach them in manners, maybe Kohl’s could train them.

I am sorry that you had that experience. That is not the way we should treat our customers. I would have asked why not? They are kohls coupons. Next time ask for another member of management. There is usually more than one of us in the store this time of the year.
I am sorry for those of you that have experience hardship in the Kohl stores in your areas. I have been in Customer Service for over 20 yrs. I would never expect this kind of behavior from any of my employees nor a member of my management team. I recently got laid off from my store after 20 yrs due to the economy. I recently decided to stay in the main stream of retail to get more experience and to keep my mind from going crazy at home doing nothing. I recently received a job at Kohls (approximently 3 months ago) at the Customer Service Desk. 90% of my clients are extremely patient and understanding to all the rules at Kohls in regards to the Kohls cash and coupons. However, there is that 10% that don’t understand, very impatient, and very rude not even trying to understand how they work. I have to tell you that those 10% ruin for everyone else, myself included. People this is “free” money that you have earned by shopping in the Kohls stores. In this economy, “free” money is always great! Be Thankful!!! However, as we all know, Nothing is ever for “free”. There are rules that go along with the “free” money. Follow the rules and understand them and you should never have an issue shopping at Kohls. If you need someone to explain it to you, then please go to the Customer Service desk in your store and just ask the simple question. Most of the employees will explain it to you with out hesitation. When I say most, 10% of the employees are new and have not been throughly trained to understand themselves. Yes, this issue is a Kohls issue. They need to better train their employees (especially those who have never worked retail in their lives). Remember I had 20yrs retail experience, I was thrown into the wolves with in 3 days of working. I worked the Customer Service desk for 5 hours without anyone else with me on my 3rd day. I handled it gracefully but not without mistakes. Please give the cashiers/customer service people the benefit of doubt without assuming they should know their jobs. It may not be their fault on knowing the procedures 100%. Kohls has the most values in todays economy, best “free’ advertising (word of mouth), lots and lots of coupons, and a very easy going return policy that most stores in the industry do not have. So remember… nothing is for “free” …but Kohls is the best in the Customer Service Industry. Please don’t judge the name kohls on some of the employees manners. We want to know about them to better train them for better customer service or let them go because they don’t fit our core values. Please continue voicing you opinion/experiences… It only makes us better and stronger! Thanks
