I have received a sms this morning 22/02/2011 01:22, that said: Your cell no has won R250 000 on 2011 Nokia mobile draw promotion. I phoned and something sounded fishy. The guy asked me how I wanted the cash. He wanted my banking details. Luckily I didn’t give it to him. I went onto the Nokia website and saw it was a scam.

Most of these scams are false sohan, they are trying to get your money or personal information, so they use a name like Nokia. Many people have reported this very same Nokia Award Promotion scam for 2011 so beware.
i’m one of those who received sms stating that i won R250.000 from nokia promo draw and in order to received my prize i must send airtime of R275.00 of which i did then received onather sms wanting me to send R2,510 as tranfer fee and now i’m warried
please do something about this people that are sending these messages that you’ve won money – we are holding Nokia responsible because their employees are supplying our numbers to these fraudsters

it also happen to me on 06/04/2011,that i have won a 110 thousands pounds in the nokia promotion ,i was told to send my passport and my driving linces wish i did after that i was told to bring 300 hundred USD to one of the officer ,in other to claim my cash in any sky bank in my country.tank God i did not fall into their trap.
I too get the email message saying I had won 400,000 GBP in Nokia promo. The mail sent in such a way I didn’t believe it as a scam. They wanted to fax my name address winning no by a fax. Then I received an email saying the funds are arranged to send to me by Standard Charted Bank in London. As informed I received another email from SCB requesting to send my Passport or driver’s license copy for verification prior to send the funds. I have fallen in the trap and I sent my Passport copy to them. Then only I had this second thought to check about their genuineness. It’s a scam .. Now I know the next step. They will ask me to send some money to transfer the funds .. I wish they will not use my personal information to do any fraud.

The guys that send all these text messages or emails (Nokia Promo ) across the globe are nothing but 419 and fraudsters. Never response to any such message(s) or email received from them. All you do is to delete the message and forget about getting such message(s).

Phone a mrs Smith 071099 6852 which I did she instructed me to buy R275 airtime and phone her back giving her the voucher pin number and the so called winning Ticket no. Money will be paid into my bank acc within 24 hours or if I request a cheque I will receive the cheque within 48 hours. Is there now way to stop these people with all their scams??
