Amoco is a brand of gasoline stations that have been in operation in the eastern United States since 1998 and is owned by the British business BP. Founded in 1889 around a refinery in Whiting, Indiana, United States, the "Amoco Corporation" was a chemical and oil firm based in the United States that produced chemicals and oil. It had its headquarters in Chicago and was incorporated in Indiana. In 1998, Amoco combined with BP to form BP Amoco. Although the Amoco Corporation and BP amalgamated in 1998, the Amoco name was revived in 2017 as a brand that service station owners could choose to use when purchasing supplies from BP in some locations of the United States.
