Sony Bravia LCD TV Faulty Panel Problems

For the past 25 years I have purchased only Sony products for my home, because I thought Sony would stand behind their products. Then I purchased a KDL 52 inch Sony Bravia TV, and I noticed digital lines or pixilation on the screen. Called customer service and was told they told me that would have to pay for a Sony authorized tech to check it out at a cost of $135 dollars, and he said it would cost more than $2,000 to fix! The LCD was advertised to last for 60,000 hours, that is 2,500 days or almost 7 years running. I’m sure in the 17 months I had the TV I put less than 2, 000 hours on it. Sounds like fraud to me and Sony should be held accountable for selling faulty LCD panels. One more former Sony customer that can’t wait to tell people never ever buy another Sony product.

My TVis a Sony Bravia LCD purchased 2 years and 5 months ago, yesterday only the on light came on ..after talking to cable and Sony determined panel was gone ..Sony told me about 1000.00 to repair , however they would take my TV back and send me a refurbished one back for 599.00…went on line for two hours reading many complaints and saw a lot of deals on line for my TV new for $300-400,,,,so not such a good deal, however who wants another with all the problems around the world I read about last night …with the Bravia Panel! 11/21/2011..will not buy another , only good thing is when I bought it , it was with gift cards and on sale for 1299.00..so not a big cash outlay for me , many others have not been so fortunate….

  2. 1-3-11 Sony KDL52xBR9 top of the line TV self destructed after 22 months. Just finished paying for it and it is garbage !!! Same problem with panel. Same jibberish from Sony—Sony repair evaluation at my expense and then a discounted TV MAYBE !!!! These TV’s should be a recall situation and Sony should be sueing Samsung who manufactured these panels for them . The loyal customers should NOT be penalized for a getting a defective panel. These TV’s are LEMONS and the lemon law should apply.!!!!!
