Car Repair Fraud Scam

It took jurors less than 30 minutes to find a Troy woman guilty of defrauding an elderly victim in a car repair scam last winter. Roselyn Abbott was found guilty in Albany County Court Tuesday of felony fourth-degree grand larceny and misdemeanor fraudulent accosting for her role in scamming an elderly citizen along with her son Kevin Gervasio, 24. According to the District Attorney’s Office, Abbott and Gervasio targeted an 89-year-old woman shopping at a supermarket in Menands in early December 2009, pouring liquid under the woman’s car when she entered the store, then approached her when she came out, warning her the car was not safe to drive because it was leaking fluid.
