I am being called by people who claim to be windows technicians and have had a fair number of calls from different people and when I said I will not give out my details and that I do not talk to cold callers, they hang up. I am 65 and experience computer user and do not like being persistently. I know several people who are being hassled by unknown callers who claim to be from Microsoft technical department. I would like you to look into this as albeit I like Windows 10, it seems like they are targeting people to try to get them to buy or download software and feel extremely suspicious of this kind of thing.
I have message people on Facebook to warn them not to give these callers any information and hope Microsoft can trace the perpetrators of bothering people and been rude and offensive and impolite. Hanging up on someone because they wont give any details if why I am complaining to Microsoft in the hope you can stop this. I seem to get daily calls and each person who calls have hung up when I say no to giving my details out. Also wondering how they got my phone number and persist in call when I said a categorical no to their request.
I hope you can get to the bottom of this and the most part worrying about this is that they withhold the number they are calling from. Please help and hope this will enable you to investigate this matter and stop these nuisances from trying to get information from you customers.
I had a horrible experience with your Windows 10 free "upgrade" and with much difficulty I was able to restore my windows 7 operating system. I tried to uninstall windows Silverlight program but the uninstall option didn't work and I receive notices about "upgrading" to windows 10. I promise that I will never buy a new computer with a windows 10 operating system or any similar operating system. Windows 7 is the best operating system I have ever used.
I downloaded windows 10 and soon after downloading the start button stopped working. I have contacted Microsoft on 5 different occasions, having to wait 3 hours. When I did talk to someone, they were unable to solve the problem. The last time they said they were going to have a tech call me. That was 5 days ago. Their absence of a complaint website shows how little they care about their customers. It's been two weeks now and am still unable to use the start button to get into any programs. Also, I must mention that I also contacted Dell to try and solve the problem. After OKing a fee they tried to resolve the problem, but were unable to. They at least did return the fee. Not very happy with Microsoft and the way they treat their customers.
I reserved the free download for Windows 10 and installed it less than a week ago. When I used Microsoft Edge, I received an error report which froze the site and was unable to solve the problem. Since I paid $149.00 for technical support, I called for assistance yesterday; of course it took the technician more than an hour to find my account in spite of my giving him all the needed information. He then spent more than two hours downloading scans for malware with no result. Finally at 8PM he said he would call today at 8AM to see if problem was resolved; it was not!
This individual arranged for a Level 2 technician to contact me at 10 AM. This individual spent from 10 AM until 3 PM today trying (fruitlessly) to solve the issue. He got it to the point where Windows 10 no longer froze up when in Microsoft Edge, however, now Edge will not click on and other information will not transfer. I can still use Explorer and Chrome; however now my computer is difficult to navigate.
The Level 2 tech was to call me at 4:45 PM today to see if he had re-installed Windows 10 successfully (he did not). It is now 5:45 PM and he has NOT called back. I told him to just delete Windows 10 (if he could not fix problems) and re-install Windows 8 (Home Premium). As of now, my computer is messed up and assistance I paid for seems unable to solve problem; in addition I have had to sit here more than 7 hours to work with techs who accomplished nothing.

Upgraded to windows 10 after Microsoft checked my system and said its ok. They didn't take into account I am using a pcie hardrive. The upgrade deleted the boot manager and so no access to information .spoke to someone on chat waited 2.5 hrs and he told me to download windows 10 I can get from their site. It's only upgrade what is use for upgrade if when it upgrades it deletes partitions needed to boot. Tried again tonight spoke to a tech (supposedly) to after which she basically told me to either keep windows 8.1 or purchase windows 10. Then told me to ring a number to which I did was on hold for an hr with just music no queue position or anything ended up hanging up how do you get Microsoft to acknowledge or do they just shit on the little guy.
Accepted your offer to upgrade to windows 10. Computer has been out of service ever since. 28 hrs so far. Cannot reach Microsoft Windows support by phone. Tried for 3 hrs. Intend on taking computer to be repaired tomorrow. And suing you for whatever its costs. Thank you for your superlative service.
In my Windows 10 email trash it always states that I have 2 emails to dump, but when I try the number 2 changes from black to yellow but there are no emails present in the trash box. Why can't I get rid of the number 2, whatever its color?
Today I got a call from a person in NJ saying he was from Microsoft and had seen I was having problems with some programs on my computer. It has come up when there have been problems that Microsoft will try to find a solution and contact me when they find this solution. I could not understand what his name was, I had a hard time understanding what he was saying, but got the gist of it. Microsoft would fix the problem. I did not realize until later he was calling from a pay phone #818-239-1445.
In my stupidity, I allowed him to get into my computer to show me all the problems. It came up a lot. After again telling me my computer was about to crash and it might, how do I know until it happens, he informed me of what the cost would be. He now has control of my computer! He also told me that Windows was not locked and unless I paid the, at least $89.00 I was done with using my computer. He said my Windows license had expired and unless I paid this I was done using my computer! I did get it back up and running on my own!
Maybe not for long if he gets back into it! I want you to know that if this is one of your people you had, #1 hire someone that speaks understandable English. #2. Inform the that the charges should be discussed up front, not after they have been screwing around with your computer. At this point I am not very happy with what happened and with your company!
I'm a Microsoft Partner. I downloaded Windows 8 Consumer preview months ago. Never liked the fact that I HAD to register or sign on to a Cloud based account. Just downloaded the Windows 8 90 Day trial Enterprise (Enterprise typically based on eopen License, so ment for commerical use). I installed it. I heard MS removed the start button recently, compleatly from the OS. Why, if the end user wants it! Heck, even Windows 95 contained progman.exe (Windows 311's GUI/Program Manager). Let the user decide! Further I noticed when I joined the workstation to my domain and attempted to logon, it forced me into signing into a Cloud based (MS Live) account. How abhord is this! on a corporate network!
It made me so upset I just flipped the power switch off. No power shutdown on the desktop anywhere! Yeah you can pull up the task manager and do a run command from it: shutdown -s -t 00 -f, and that will do the trick. Bad GUI choic to force users into doing what Microsoft thinks is the best. Should never cold turkey yank the legacy system out. Windows 7 is great. But bad for Microsoft, me as a Microsoft Partner IS looking at Linux, becase I don't plan on using Windows 8 NEVER!!!! I'll WINE [ ;) :D ] with Linux on Windows Licensed machines (of course) but I'll never run Windows 8!
That much I promise! I will not recommend it, I will not sell it. And when Windows 7 gets pulled off the shelf, If Windows 8 or what ever newer OS there is up to the same clown tricks, I'll be with my Penguin friends. Microsoft made some bad choices here. Uniform amoung all devices is fine, even if it is, should never take options to choose away from an IS Manager and MS Partner like this. Not every corporation wants to use MS Live! That has no place being forced on a corporate workstation!
On Friday I purchased a laptop. I did not want Windows 8, but it came preloaded and I wanted this particular laptop. I do not care for the start menu or how you have to use windows 8, but I can perhaps live with it, as well as the time it takes for new drivers to be available for my printer, NAS drive, external webcam, and so iTunes will recognize my iPod, HOWEVER, the fact that I can no longer get or run gadgets is crazy. I got used to and then loved them with Vista and then Win 7, but Microsoft has removed them entirely and I can't get them back and it's just a lost function. Why in the world would you give something to your customers, get them to like it and then take it away? Because it's not about the customer but how much money you can shove in your pockets.
Furthermore, the pdf reader in Win 8 is bad. You can't properly minimize it, you can't run and see multiple pdf files, you can't open a link to a pdf within a pdf, you can't even figure out how to close the thing. You have to do that stupid grab at the top, pull to the bottom and go back to the desktop and then, it's not even properly minimized - it's running in the background and you have to find that stupid thumbnail in the upper left hand corner to right click and close it. I might try to download adobe, but there are so many things that do not run properly with win 8, I'm thinking adobe won't even run. I don't care for the looks of win 8 either. I'm not an idiot and I don't need some screen full of blocks to find what I want. It's time for a new paradigm.
It's time for corporations and manufacturers to all play nice in the sandbox together or you need to just go away. If these issues do not get resolved in 3 to 5 months I'm going to reformat this laptop and put windows 7 back in it and start over. Windows 8 is fail. (For those of you struggling with getting iTunes to recognize your apple device - go see the youtube video "How to sync an Ipod Touch in Windows 8". I may have to do this every time to sync until there is a fix out, but at least you can get it done this way.)
