I have to vent about this issue on a website that seems to welcome consumer feedback, because of course Microsoft themselves have no time to waste actually listening to their customers. I figured there's no real point using the forums or any official form of communication, because let's face it, they don't care about what people have to say. In terms of big corporations, Microsoft has, after all, astoundingly, and consistently, remained one of the worst throughout the years.
Now, the issue itself: Windows Update. This honestly wasn't such a big deal a few years, or even a few months, ago. I certainly can't remember having this difficult of a time on Windows 7. But nowadays, it seems every three days or so (sometimes it's less than that, sometimes it's one day after the other), Windows forces an update on me. Of course, it would be too much quality service to give people the ability to delay it (or, God forbid, refuse it), so the best you can hope for is a tiny little warning notification telling you that "Heads up - we're going to make Windows better soon" or whatever idiocy they come up with these days. Hell, in order to just be able to CHOOSE MY OWN UPDATE TIME, I had to mess around with the registry. And of course, if the process begins, there's no interrupting it. Oh no, whatever work, download or files you had going, the geniuses over at Microsoft made sure that you lose it all.
This "feature" is asinine, useless and, worst of all, persistent. Windows Update is like a stalking telemarketer that, at the first occasion, breaks into your home, turns off all your electricity, burns your paperwork, and then has the gall to tell you it was improving things. Yeah, no.
After the last update my solitaire collection disappeared, prior to that my magic puzzles also went. Why has that happened?
After 1 yr anniversary update on Windows 10 my Logitech cam stopped launching. Here are my latest case number 1353623013. After the tech contacted me he told me in about half an hour he was going off shift and would contact me the next day. that was on Sept 9th and I have not heard back. I also tried to have Logitech come up with a solution and they say Microsoft needs an update on their files. because of the Anniversary update. I am caught in the middle and this is very poor customer services when you have customers wait for your agents and they never get back with you. I cannot even go back to the previous build now because of the time elapse. Just send me a new installation disk for Windows 10 home plus with key and I will redo everything myself and be able to start over with this mess. Please Microsoft, do not forsake customers.
I have owned my computer for years with Windows 7 on it and I liked it just fine. Then, those idiots at Microsoft started sending me these free offers to upgrade to Windows 10. I am not interested. I turned it down multiple times. Then, one morning, I woke up to find that windows 10 had been downloaded onto my computer without my consent. Over the next week the computer performed more and more poorly and, finally, at the end of the week it would not work at all. I asked some of my coworkers to look at it for me but no one could make it work (I work in Afghanistan). I spent $52 to send it to my home office in Guam where they told me that there was nothing that could be done - my computer is now nothing more than a boat anchor. So, I ordered a used older computer on eBay that still has Windows 7 on it.
I had my office in Guam install "Never 10" on it and mail it to me. Today, I received notice that the computer was returned to my office in Guam by the postal service because it had a lithium battery in it. So, what is the damage? $52 to mail the computer from Afghanistan to Guam; $500 for my trashed computer; $500 to buy the new used one; another $50 to mail it back to me (only to be rejected); and it looks like I am going to lose the business that I conduct over that computer which will cost me tens of thousands of dollars over time.
Does anyone at Microsoft care? Of course not. They are the ones who have launched this devious computer virus on us and, I am sure, they are delighted that this kind of thing happens.I can only hope that one day soon someone does to them what they have done to me. Destroy their business and their property without giving a care at all. Microsoft is a disgrace.
Whilst I understand, from Microsoft's point of view, that automatic update downloads may be preferred, it is however infuriating when the process causes my PC to slow down to the point I have to stop work for an hour or so to preserve my sanity. What possible justification can there be for not allowing users to schedule downloads and installation at a time of their choosing? Microsoft's idea of idle time does not coincide with mine.
I want to burn a copy of a cd using Windows 10 but you only allow it with XP 32bit. I am fed up with Windows 10 and wish I had never accepting the "so called" upgrade. How can I make a copy?
Since switching to Microsoft 10, I find the games experience has been terrible. The games either stop in the middle of the game or they cut off entirely switching me back to the desktop. As a senior, I enjoy playing these games as they keep my mind active. However, I now find that I end up turning the computer off. Is there a way to fix this problem? I would certainly appreciate it. Thank you for any help.
I kept getting a message telling me there was a upgrade for my phone every day for a month, so I finally clicked for the upgrade to proceed. After doing this it gave me an email address without giving me my password. Now when I try to download a game or an apt it ask for my password which I can not provide because I don't know what it is because I didn't ask for a new email address or password. I tried on line four times and could not get a password so I called trying to get it and got transferred from one person to another about four time which wad upsetting and got aggravated and hung up. All I want is a password for the new email address that you gave with the new update because if not your windows is not worth much to me. If I can't use my phone for what I want.
Downloaded Windows 10. Got to a place given a choice of "install now" or "enter date to install". Install date was today, 8/31/2016. Had computer turned on as had been instructed. Got an email from Microsoft customer service that install was about to begin and gave minutes and ticking seconds until installation.
Employee said computer may turn off from time to time but for me not to touch anything and they would send me a contact message when the installation was completed. All I have received is several messages stating upgrades were found but failed. Last message stated the " FREE installation of Windows 10 is over". It is a good thing this was supposed to be Free. So far, it has not cost me anything but a great deal of my time and a greater deal of frustration.
If I had paid for this "installation" that I now believe is a scam by Microsoft Windows, I would be publishing a full-page ad in every newspaper in my state warning people not to trust Microsoft Windows 10 installation. With the knowledge you have and the money you make, I don't know why you have to cause such grief to your users. We are caught between the Devil and the hard spot. Guess which one Microsoft is! Guess Microsoft has decided to join the massive group of "humans?" that like to scam seniors. Offer free, prevent installation, then expect us to buy.
Windows 10 is a scam. I have nothing but issues. I spend half my time looking for fixes. I used to enjoy using my computer. Now I hate it because of windows 10. How do Microsoft bring out a product that we pay for that is an inferior product! I can't even open a file in file explorer! All I get is Not responding. What a joke.
Three times now I have been working on a Word 10 file and haven't had a chance to manually save the document, when windows ten has installed updates and I have lost days worth of work because it didn't autosave before installing updates. I didn't want to update to windows ten in the first place and know it is deleting files for me. This has already impacted my job performance due to not being able to produce work that I have already done yet gets deleted or lost. I have searched everywhere on my computer for where these files may have been backed up and have found nothing.
On July 14th Microsoft had installed some updates, I had several games already on my computer that worked fine and now they will not open in full screen, I have gone in the options to be sure the full screen box is checked but my games still will not comply. I have noticed every time Microsoft does an upgrade on one thing it prevents something else from working, and it is very annoying. I am reluctant to have a tech remote in on to my computer because they only make it worst downloading malware and garbage. Just inform me as to how I can get my game to work with what ever Microsoft installed on my computer.
I downloaded Windows 10 and I hate it. Why call it an update when it actually wipes away all the good stuff. I had no sound on my dvd or c.d. no games cannot shut it down properly. You do not mention any of these things when you keep advertising it but clearly they are a problem as it is plastered all over google. I am disgusted that you can do this to your customers - you have caused me no end of stress and time wasted. Don't do it again - I don't want to be plagued by messages saying update to windows 10 when it is rubbish.
When I upgraded to windows 10 it dropped my tree spider solitaire card game. When I try to reload the free version it goes to a version that charges a fee. Typical ripoff from Microsoft.
Bought a Dell laptop with a pre installed version of Windows 10. 3 weeks later the software will not allow me to access printer/scanner. Keeps saying port cannot be created...than tells me the printer is off or is offline. Called Cannon (great customer service!) they sent me a replacement printer the next day. reinstalled software and the problem still persists. Called Microsoft tech. support and they want $100 to perform advanced troubleshooting! I guess I need to return this computer, losing all the data saved on it and buy an Apple. I need help with a brand new computer and Microsoft charges 100 dollars for that. Very poor customer service.
Windows 10 has been trying to download for quit sometime now. I keep refusing it. Now when I get on MSN or facebook my laptop freezes up. I can't x out or anything. Keep getting windows has a problem and needs to restart. This is more then 5 times when I am on the computer. I thought it was from something else but then it dawned on me it's Windows and Microsoft doing this. How can I make it stop so I can do my work and relax on my computer?
Working on my HP PC running Windows 7 and popup came up offering the free upgrade to windows 10. Attempted to close it but it automatically started and completed the upgrade with no option to decline the upgrade. Disabled some applications and made others not operational. Found info on how to go back to Windows 7 but I was away for a month and the ability was lost. Had to call HP to have windows 7 reinstalled and all other applications reinstalled at a cost of 329.99.
I have received two calls from this number 1-949-009-0302 and they tell me that my microsoft windows products have been tampered with or hacked or whatever and that I should contact them immediately. There is no such number and I do not call them, but, I think you would like to know what is going on just in case you can trace it. Thanks and I do like your product but this is the only way I know to get in touch.
I had notices on my computer to update to windows 10 witch I cancelled. It has now done that, presumably by you. It has messed every thing up .I have had to change my email address as well and I am not at all happy. I know it can be rectified with a charge but don't see why I should be paying for something that is down to you. Would you please put this matter right or I will be looking at this further.
MSFT "hacked" my computer, installing windows 10 without my knowledge or consent. A call to your tech support resulted in being on hold for 1/2 hour or more then being transferred to someone that could help. I was disconnected. Somehow I managed to get rid of this program. Now you've done something else to my computer with one of your automatic "updates" (more hacking). It has changed my screen, e-mail function. Now my inbox reads I have 25 unread e-mails when in fact I have 7. Exactly what right does the Microsoft corporate office with my computer? We're done as a customer.
I bought a new computer earlier this year and was advised not to use Windows 10. I have been constantly bombarded with requests to' Upgrade to Windows 10' all of which I 'delayed' ( since I was not given the option to cancel). A few days ago I found that my machine had been turned on remotely and Windows 10 had been installed. I asked for it to be uninstalled and it reverted to Windows 7. However, it has wiped off my' Office' app and I am unable to restore it. Since I use my computer only for writing documents it effectively useless to me! It seems that all my security systems can not stop Microsoft from hijacking my computer! Naturally I am furious.
Microsoft upgraded me to version 10 without my ok. I called to have them put old version and they lost my email. I have legal documents there. They haven't restored outlook which was on there before. I need my email and my legal documents. They put me on hold and never came back.
Was on the internet doing patient contacts, went to the sand box, and came back to Microsoft hijacking my laptop to install Windows 10, they had no decline/opt out button, had disabled the keyboard and this went on for hours bringing my sick day to a screeching halt. Thank God, I found the decline button on the customer agreement form which then allowed me to opt out of Windows 10, but then it took hours to restore my previous software and then had to reconnect to the wifi. Thanks for wasting my whole day Microsoft, you're no better than Malware. I'm switching to Linux. Say goodbye to a 30+ year customer.
I woke up this morning and my computer said welcome to windows 10. I knew at that point that I would have a horrible day since my computer was not compatible with it, that is why I never downloaded it myself. I called Microsoft at 8:00am this morning and talked to Santos and he tried a bunch of stuff and then said that he needed to repair my files. That took until about noon. He disconnected the chat session, I let the repair run and when it was finished I waited on hold for another hour and called and talked to another gentleman and he tried a couple of thing and sent me to level 2 support who proceeded to fix it as well - he did a malware scan and an adware scan and then told me that my computer was not compatible with windows 10 duh, I already knew that.
He said that I would have to either take my computer to Des Moines, Iowa or Bloomington, Minnesota which both of them options are 3 - 4 hours from my house. I need this computer to run a small business. When I told him that was not an option he told me that is all that he can offer. I can take it to my local computer repair that is 5 miles from my house but I would have to pay for it. I asked for a person that I could speak with that I could send the bill to and he told me that my best option was to file a complaint with Microsoft and he then hung up on me. This is close to the worst that I have been treated by a business! A mac is looking very good at this point as I have been a windows customer for well over 30 years and have bought many computers and all of them have been with windows.
My Internet Explorer was removed when I even declined Windows 10. A friend was trying to use a DVD with my computer for me. showing me how and must have hit the update of Toshiba. I declined it twice and it would not let me out of the program. None of my files are found for several favorites. I did not want Windows 10. I want my internet explorer back with all my information and bar across the top. Please contact me asap.
A windows "upgrade" scam by Microsoft appeared on my screen demanding that I either schedule windows 10 "now or later". There was no other way to remove the scam than to schedule it so could be removed from my screen. I tried to schedule it as far in advance as it would allow but that was only about five days. I called Microsoft to cancel this schedule and after spending hours online with their operator, I thought she was able to cancel it. However, days after when I turned on my computer it was downloading windows 10. So trying to avoid corruption I left it continue. Of course as I suspected, it totally messed up my computer and now I am forced to buy a new computer. I have spent an unbelievable number of hours and aggravation with this problem. I am looking at Apple and will avoid all Microsoft products as much as possible.

My computer automatically downloaded Windows 10 although I did not expect it to when the pop up window came up & I hit the X. I have just read various articles online in regards to this issue & I see that Microsoft has inadvertently configured the X button to automatically download Windows 10 onto unsuspecting users. This is not acceptable especially from a highly respected company such as Microsoft! They are trying to shove this program down our throats & it is totally unnecessary. Due to the download I was unable to work (I work from home) & I am demanding to receive renumeration from Microsoft for my lost time. I would appreciate a response in a timely manner as I'm sure you have been bombarded by other unhappy individuals who have experienced the exact same scenario....unacceptable!
I can not log into my own computer after downloading Windows 10. And now Microsoft goes overseas support hung up the phone, because they couldn't help. If this is customer service, then Microsoft has re written the dictionary. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give them 0.
I have had a Nokia Lumia for 2 years now. My phone never updates my apps automatically, even when I click on them and try to update, as seen in the photo. My phone also hangs up on me, when I'm on the phone with someone I or out of the state, it will just hang up whenever, its so annoying I will definitely not be buying another Window product.
I had a Microsoft windows pop up recommending that I upgrade to windows 10 from windows 7. I did do that and I will now have to have my computer worked on to fix the problems that it caused. First of all it deleted almost everything on my desk top. My computer does not shut off and stay off like it should. There are so many things that it does that it did not use to do that it is crazy. Windows 10 is NOT easier to use. In fact, I have way more issues with getting things to run than I ever did before. I am so angry with the fact that most of my desk top was deleted. I will not upgrade my computer again. I will not recommend it to anyone. In fact, I already told another person about what had happen and she was thinking about upgrading until she found out about my experience.
I am 73 years old. I am using computer every day. I did work on my computer all the time using Windows 7. Month before a got on my screen letter with question :" Do you like to have Windows 10 on your computer? " I voided this letter all the time because I supposed that I will need to have pay for this system but after that may be in two weeks after I got another letter on my screen::" You have to upgrade your Windows. I wanted to void this letter and couldn't. It was more and more times again. They insisted and made me to upgrades. Right now I have on my computer a lot of programs that I don't need. My printer is not working after this. I ask on Microsoft technical support. They refuse to help me because I don't have money to pay for their service. I even can't find my computer Control Panel to fix my printer. How you can help me?
Windows 10 Complaint: On August 20th I attempted to download and install windows 10. I didn't have any success so I contacted the Microsoft Support for help. A tech support guy checked my pc signed in etc then attempted to download and install win 10. He then signed out told me to do a shut down and try again. This didn't work came up with same problem. Contacted support again but couldn't get the same tech person. Another etch person did the same thing signed into my pc etc and tried to install win 10 at least 3 times, but it didnt work.
I was then told for help I would have to pay $120 for dedicated tech support, which I agreed to as this problem was beyond my capabilities. Tech support person then passed me onto another department. When this didn't work I asked for the $120 to be cancelled as I wasn't getting what I needed. The tech person transferred the amount and the problem over to the Assurance Department. They couldn't cancel the amount or do a credit either. I was told to contact Complaints. I asked that all the records and chat conversations be passed on as well, but I was told they cant do that either, I needed to contact them myself and refer to the problem report SRX1301284831ID that contained all the tech support peoples notes etc. I gave up in the end and just signed out after giving them a blast about poor service and the fact that Microsoft cant pass emails from one department to another.
Given this was a Friday night, on the weekend I went to use my credit card to pay for a meal at a restaurant. My card was refused. Contacted my bank on Monday and was told I Microsoft tried to bill me for the amount of $68000, which the bank refused. My bank said they would follow up with Microsoft and in the mean times I would have to wait for a new credit card to be issued. It took 4 days for the bank to reissue a new card. Since then I have had an invoice (AU20150919-XKS9AAAAAA1EwPA) and package from Microsoft Singapore which contained Windows 10 and asking for the payment of $179.
I have since received a survey from Microsoft to complete re my contact with Tech support. At the end of the survey I gave details etc as above and told them I won't be paying any invoices etc. Also reminded them that Windows 10 is free. I have since tried to download Windows 10 again and now it tells me my PC isn't compatible. Why didn't the Tech support know this when they attempted to install Windows 10. I certainly didn't come up with this message when I tried and 2 tech support people tried.

I hope this event might help others and maybe you have a Microsoft contact to pass this information onto. I would like this matter ended.
For approximately 4 weeks I have been dealing with a windows 10 pop up offer to upgrade to this Microsoft 10 platform. To say that this is annoying would be to understate the situation significantly. I do not currently want a windows 10 upgrade. Further more I did not give Microsoft my permission to usurp my personal time to spend even one microsecond dealing with this unwelcome pop-up every time I sign on to my computer. If I have inadvertently signed a doc. giving you free reign to do this kind of thing I do at this time wish to retract it. This heavy handed "giveaway" is in very poor taste and I for one am very disappointed in your business practices pertaining to this matter.
I constantly have my task bar windows options "lock up" a i need to reboot a few times a day to get them working. I did not have this problem with Windows 8. Or my initial upgrade to Windows 10. It is very upsetting to me and have tried my things to correct the problem. Is there a problem with the current Window 10 software I have? I have check some of the on-line forms and others are having the same issues. Is there a fix in the near future. Currently, I "hate Windows 10".
Absolutely sick of forced Windows 10 updates. I've had to disable automatic updates and do research on patches before I install because I just don't trust Microsoft anymore. My computer works fine. It doesn't need an "upgrade" that'll screw with my setup and sell off my personal info to the highest bidder. I like things the way they are and have no plans to update for the future. If anything, I'll probably just be switching to Linux if this crap keeps up.
Windows 10 is taking up so much of my time. When I shut down my computer I never know how long it will take to start again with all the updates. I do not want to login to windows as there is only me. I have got rid (netplwiz) of it but after the last update I cannot get rid of it altogether any more. I can get rid of login at startup but then if I leave the computer I need to login later. It is pestering me about startup pictures and Cortana and will not default to google search. This is just a waste of my time. When I ask for help I have to trawl through internet trash about replacement glazing and windows 8. You guys have jobs for life and have been playing around for over 6 months now.
I used to be able to watch DVDs...not anymore! Windows 10 has messed up my computer...I just want to be able to watch films without having to pay for something that worked just fine before "upgrading". No wonder Windows 10 is free. Although, given your customer service record, it's hardly surprising, you can't charge people for this software and expect happy customers. Sort it out, why can't media player player DVDs anymore. Is film not media?
I had to completely restore windows 10. Because, my Microsoft Store, would not even work. But now, that I finally got windows 10 restored. I can even download any thing. Because, every I try to download. It says it is pending. Which, I absolutely do not get, because, I went on Microsoft and checked, to see if I was using the right email address and password and I absolutely did not have any problems getting on. Plus, when, I was restoring windows 10. It came up and asked me what my phone number was, so I absolutely could not fill it out. Because, I absolutely do not have a cell phone any more. So, how in the hell can I fix this problem.
Since upgrading to 10, the updates lock up at 45, 85, & 99%. The last update successfully downloaded and installed was on 10/25/15. Since then all updates have failed to install according to the update records. I have the updates waiting to install since 10/25/15. This has been a problem since upgrading to 10. I'm not happy with this product at all. I really need help as I'm not the sharpest tack in the box with computers. I am using a H/P laptop Pavilion g6 which is 3 years old. Please advise to my Email address and also to my husband's computer.
Why should I have to be computer programmer to change my home page to internet explorer come on guys lets make it easier it took me 3 days just to find the tools icon. Cortana is useless it just sends u to stupid forums that's no help at all other than letting you see all the people having the same problems. You guys need to stupid it up for people that don't know a thing about computers at least put the control panel in the start window for us that should be easy enough! Cortana acts like it doesn't even know what it is. it just sends u to web sites, let it find things on your computer.
Make no mistake how much I despise YES despise Microsoft 10. I use my computer in a limited way BUT I depend upon it in my job. You have made my 'computer' life now so complicated by your incessant badgering to 'so called' UPGRADE to Microsoft 10. The program is horrible, non user friendly and I despise Microsoft for forcing it on me.
I installed lightroom cc 2015 and photoshop cc 2015. I am unable to make a slide show because when I updated my computer from windows 7 to windows 10 they didn't update my driver to my graphics card. This is twice I have sent this didn't receive no link to my email.
Bought new computer with windows 10. Windows would not open, took 2 days to get help and get it to work. Set up computer to sign in using a pin. That lasted for 2 days and now computer is asking for password? What happened with this pile of junk? Had to spend about 2 hours on another computer to change password which I had forgotten since I use a pin. If I did not have another computer to set up new password, the new computer would have been useless. So my rating for windows 10 is it is the usual pile of junk. Sorry I bought a new computer with windows 10. If I ever buy a new computer again it will not have Microsoft system it will be Apple a quality company.
Last Thursday, Dec 4th, my order of ink was delivered. Just prior to that date you automatically updated my computer to Windows 10. Since then I have had nothing but problems. No apps were working and I only have a few. In Word I could not navigate, delete a sentence or anything else! My files were gone! AND when I tried to print (Dell v525w printer)that did not work and when it did it printed some 80 pages of computer speak schematics. This computer and printer is not even two years old. I had to call for support which cost me $150.00. Since then I have had to call them several times! This is just not right. I am a senior citizen on a very limited income.
Now I am told that the inks are low. I am extremely frustrated and now I have to order more ink. What else can I say? I just want to cry.
I installed windows 10 home from CD but before that I upgraded from windows 8.1 and due to technical problem it forced me to format. After reinstalling windows 10 from CD I am still having problems with it. Some apps like food and drink, health and fitness, sports and travel are missing. This is such a joke from MSFT corporate, and I hope my complaint reaches them!
Why is IE 11 so unstable with Win 8.1? Why do you barrage your clients with upgrade requests to 8.1 from 8.0. I never wanted this crap and accidentally hit yes when you threw up a dialog box while I was typing a message. I have no doubt my problems have been because I am now on 8.1 and MSFT did not bother to properly test IE with 8.1.
And please don not say go to Win 10. I have learned from decades of experience with MSFT you never go on a new OS until at least 2 years after its release. But what is most annoying is your not so subtle efforts to renege on your fully paid licenses for client applications like Outlook and Office. I know you want me to pay you money every year instead of using the perfectly good perpetual licenses I bought from MSFT. But it is truly ridiculous when MSFT cannot get its "Connector" software to actually work with a simple self extracting file on its own OS to support its own client.
Outlook, to connect to its own service, Hotmail. I mean all of this technology is only 20 years old. I can't believe MSFT just screwed up out of incompetence. And in any case you should at least fix it when you find its now working. No I think you want it to be and stay broken with the delusion that clients will just pay you to go "into the cloud". BTW, the cloud is a two edged sword. If I go the cloud I no longer need to buy from your company or worry about what OS I'm using. Goodby Windows, hello Linux/Redhat.
I've been with your company since Bill Gates (and I) was first starting to shave. But I give up. I have downloaded Mozilla and I will start the process of leaving Hotmail. As much as I dislike Google products I do not have much choice but to make Chrome my browser. At least it is stable. And in the next few month as I have time I will migrate away from your OS and any Windows based applications. Sorry you just wore me out with your complacency and greed.
I was using Word 7 and was content. Then daily, a notification to upgrade to Word 10 was posted on my computer, a real harassment But since Microsoft "guaranteed" that if I don't like W10, within 30 days I can return to W7. why worry. So I made the bad move, but soon was convinced that Window 7 suited my needs better. No problem, I thought, back to 7 then. Unfortunately, Microsoft's technical department is not wort a dime. The woman who took my call, assured me that that is not a problem, she will do it in no time.
Three hours later, I could not even turn on my computer and keep it turned on. There was nothing left on the computer that worked. I called a professional, who told me that the technical help emptied all my program files and transferred them to her own hard drive and was in the process to remove everything and - reapply them later? - who knows what else was she planning to do? A total incompetent. Now, we have to start from scratch and buy another Windows 7 and it probably will take weeks before I can get my computer back and functioning again. I don't mention the extra expenses,
Could Microsoft not afford to hire better technical help? and should not know what is going on? Funny business that does not care about the opinions and complaints of its customers.
I upgraded my windows 8.1 to windows 10, since I already had a copy of Minecraft 8.1 edition on my computer I was supposed to get a free copy of Windows 10 Minecraft beta edition, all I had to do is enter a redeem code to download it. When I tried, it said that I already used the code, which I didn't. After trying to figure it out for a couple of hours I decided to go to the App. store and purchase it for $9.99. After I downloaded it my grandson went to play it and it said we weren't connected to the internet, when we most certainly were so he was unable to use it.
I contacted game chat support where she took remote access of my computer but was unable to figure it out. She told me to contact game support by phone and talk to someone there, so I did. He also went through what the last person went through with no results. He said that it was a Microsoft technical problem and gave me a number to call, it was so late that I had to call the next day. I called them and she also took remote control of my computer to figure it out and came to a conclusion that I should contact the game chat support which was right back where I started.
I explained the whole story from not getting my free copy to paying the $9.99 for nothing to each and every person I talked to and no one offered my money back or why I never received my free copy. All I got was being shuffled from one person to the next. This isn't support, it's a runaround until you get tired of dealing with it.
I have contacted Microsoft several times to complain about Windows 10. I have lost 14 months of folders, files and photos by a failed download. I want compensation. Customer services have been terrible and have passed me from person to person and will not help me. Please contact me immediately.
I am being called by people who claim to be windows technicians and have had a fair number of calls from different people and when I said I will not give out my details and that I do not talk to cold callers, they hang up. I am 65 and experience computer user and do not like being persistently. I know several people who are being hassled by unknown callers who claim to be from Microsoft technical department. I would like you to look into this as albeit I like Windows 10, it seems like they are targeting people to try to get them to buy or download software and feel extremely suspicious of this kind of thing.
I have message people on Facebook to warn them not to give these callers any information and hope Microsoft can trace the perpetrators of bothering people and been rude and offensive and impolite. Hanging up on someone because they wont give any details if why I am complaining to Microsoft in the hope you can stop this. I seem to get daily calls and each person who calls have hung up when I say no to giving my details out. Also wondering how they got my phone number and persist in call when I said a categorical no to their request.
I hope you can get to the bottom of this and the most part worrying about this is that they withhold the number they are calling from. Please help and hope this will enable you to investigate this matter and stop these nuisances from trying to get information from you customers.
I had a horrible experience with your Windows 10 free "upgrade" and with much difficulty I was able to restore my windows 7 operating system. I tried to uninstall windows Silverlight program but the uninstall option didn't work and I receive notices about "upgrading" to windows 10. I promise that I will never buy a new computer with a windows 10 operating system or any similar operating system. Windows 7 is the best operating system I have ever used.
I downloaded windows 10 and soon after downloading the start button stopped working. I have contacted Microsoft on 5 different occasions, having to wait 3 hours. When I did talk to someone, they were unable to solve the problem. The last time they said they were going to have a tech call me. That was 5 days ago. Their absence of a complaint website shows how little they care about their customers. It's been two weeks now and am still unable to use the start button to get into any programs. Also, I must mention that I also contacted Dell to try and solve the problem. After OKing a fee they tried to resolve the problem, but were unable to. They at least did return the fee. Not very happy with Microsoft and the way they treat their customers.
I reserved the free download for Windows 10 and installed it less than a week ago. When I used Microsoft Edge, I received an error report which froze the site and was unable to solve the problem. Since I paid $149.00 for technical support, I called for assistance yesterday; of course it took the technician more than an hour to find my account in spite of my giving him all the needed information. He then spent more than two hours downloading scans for malware with no result. Finally at 8PM he said he would call today at 8AM to see if problem was resolved; it was not!
This individual arranged for a Level 2 technician to contact me at 10 AM. This individual spent from 10 AM until 3 PM today trying (fruitlessly) to solve the issue. He got it to the point where Windows 10 no longer froze up when in Microsoft Edge, however, now Edge will not click on and other information will not transfer. I can still use Explorer and Chrome; however now my computer is difficult to navigate.
The Level 2 tech was to call me at 4:45 PM today to see if he had re-installed Windows 10 successfully (he did not). It is now 5:45 PM and he has NOT called back. I told him to just delete Windows 10 (if he could not fix problems) and re-install Windows 8 (Home Premium). As of now, my computer is messed up and assistance I paid for seems unable to solve problem; in addition I have had to sit here more than 7 hours to work with techs who accomplished nothing.

Upgraded to windows 10 after Microsoft checked my system and said its ok. They didn't take into account I am using a pcie hardrive. The upgrade deleted the boot manager and so no access to information .spoke to someone on chat waited 2.5 hrs and he told me to download windows 10 I can get from their site. It's only upgrade what is use for upgrade if when it upgrades it deletes partitions needed to boot. Tried again tonight spoke to a tech (supposedly) to after which she basically told me to either keep windows 8.1 or purchase windows 10. Then told me to ring a number to which I did was on hold for an hr with just music no queue position or anything ended up hanging up how do you get Microsoft to acknowledge or do they just shit on the little guy.
Accepted your offer to upgrade to windows 10. Computer has been out of service ever since. 28 hrs so far. Cannot reach Microsoft Windows support by phone. Tried for 3 hrs. Intend on taking computer to be repaired tomorrow. And suing you for whatever its costs. Thank you for your superlative service.
In my Windows 10 email trash it always states that I have 2 emails to dump, but when I try the number 2 changes from black to yellow but there are no emails present in the trash box. Why can't I get rid of the number 2, whatever its color?
I'm a Microsoft Partner. I downloaded Windows 8 Consumer preview months ago. Never liked the fact that I HAD to register or sign on to a Cloud based account. Just downloaded the Windows 8 90 Day trial Enterprise (Enterprise typically based on eopen License, so ment for commerical use). I installed it. I heard MS removed the start button recently, compleatly from the OS. Why, if the end user wants it! Heck, even Windows 95 contained progman.exe (Windows 311's GUI/Program Manager). Let the user decide! Further I noticed when I joined the workstation to my domain and attempted to logon, it forced me into signing into a Cloud based (MS Live) account. How abhord is this! on a corporate network!
It made me so upset I just flipped the power switch off. No power shutdown on the desktop anywhere! Yeah you can pull up the task manager and do a run command from it: shutdown -s -t 00 -f, and that will do the trick. Bad GUI choic to force users into doing what Microsoft thinks is the best. Should never cold turkey yank the legacy system out. Windows 7 is great. But bad for Microsoft, me as a Microsoft Partner IS looking at Linux, becase I don't plan on using Windows 8 NEVER!!!! I'll WINE [ ;) :D ] with Linux on Windows Licensed machines (of course) but I'll never run Windows 8!
That much I promise! I will not recommend it, I will not sell it. And when Windows 7 gets pulled off the shelf, If Windows 8 or what ever newer OS there is up to the same clown tricks, I'll be with my Penguin friends. Microsoft made some bad choices here. Uniform amoung all devices is fine, even if it is, should never take options to choose away from an IS Manager and MS Partner like this. Not every corporation wants to use MS Live! That has no place being forced on a corporate workstation!
On Friday I purchased a laptop. I did not want Windows 8, but it came preloaded and I wanted this particular laptop. I do not care for the start menu or how you have to use windows 8, but I can perhaps live with it, as well as the time it takes for new drivers to be available for my printer, NAS drive, external webcam, and so iTunes will recognize my iPod, HOWEVER, the fact that I can no longer get or run gadgets is crazy. I got used to and then loved them with Vista and then Win 7, but Microsoft has removed them entirely and I can't get them back and it's just a lost function. Why in the world would you give something to your customers, get them to like it and then take it away? Because it's not about the customer but how much money you can shove in your pockets.
Furthermore, the pdf reader in Win 8 is bad. You can't properly minimize it, you can't run and see multiple pdf files, you can't open a link to a pdf within a pdf, you can't even figure out how to close the thing. You have to do that stupid grab at the top, pull to the bottom and go back to the desktop and then, it's not even properly minimized - it's running in the background and you have to find that stupid thumbnail in the upper left hand corner to right click and close it. I might try to download adobe, but there are so many things that do not run properly with win 8, I'm thinking adobe won't even run. I don't care for the looks of win 8 either. I'm not an idiot and I don't need some screen full of blocks to find what I want. It's time for a new paradigm.
It's time for corporations and manufacturers to all play nice in the sandbox together or you need to just go away. If these issues do not get resolved in 3 to 5 months I'm going to reformat this laptop and put windows 7 back in it and start over. Windows 8 is fail. (For those of you struggling with getting iTunes to recognize your apple device - go see the youtube video "How to sync an Ipod Touch in Windows 8". I may have to do this every time to sync until there is a fix out, but at least you can get it done this way.)
Today I got a call from a person in NJ saying he was from Microsoft and had seen I was having problems with some programs on my computer. It has come up when there have been problems that Microsoft will try to find a solution and contact me when they find this solution. I could not understand what his name was, I had a hard time understanding what he was saying, but got the gist of it. Microsoft would fix the problem. I did not realize until later he was calling from a pay phone #818-239-1445.
In my stupidity, I allowed him to get into my computer to show me all the problems. It came up a lot. After again telling me my computer was about to crash and it might, how do I know until it happens, he informed me of what the cost would be. He now has control of my computer! He also told me that Windows was not locked and unless I paid the, at least $89.00 I was done with using my computer. He said my Windows license had expired and unless I paid this I was done using my computer! I did get it back up and running on my own!
Maybe not for long if he gets back into it! I want you to know that if this is one of your people you had, #1 hire someone that speaks understandable English. #2. Inform the that the charges should be discussed up front, not after they have been screwing around with your computer. At this point I am not very happy with what happened and with your company!
This del computer is the worse computer I ever saw I hate it and it should never be sold for the $ I paid for it first no Microsoft office, next all the POP ups and the ads never saw so much PLUS some garbage says buy I am not buying anything fixing to get a HP they do not a have this junk next the start up menu all that junk when finally desk top comes up can't find a way to put something in it so don't have to look every where for it and no file edit & ect on top next can not put some things on desk top call to ask a simple ?? and want to take control no way with some one you do not k now just tell me where to look NEXY those stupid pictures when turn computer on why do you need these you DON'T a nuisance this window 10 is awful especially when had 1 for so many years a lot of programs missing that is so you have to buy them well I will not buy nothing that has to be put on a DELL SORRY COMPUTERS
A windows "upgrade" scam appeared on my screen demanding that I either schedule windows 10 "now or later". There was no other way to remove the scam by MICROSOFT than to schedule it so it could be removed from my screen. I tried to schedule it as far in advance as it would allow but only was about five days. I called Microsoft to cancel this schedule and after spending hours on line with one of their operators going on my computer, I thought she was able to fix it.
However, days after when I turned on my computer it was downloading windows 10. So to avoid corruption I left it continue. Of course as I suspected, it totally messed up my computer and now I am forced to buy a new computer. I have spend an unbelievable number of hours and aggravation with this problem. I will avoid ever using Microsoft in the future. Their deceitful and heavy-handed tactics should be reported to government officials. I am looking at Apple and will try them.
