AT&T Stores Offer Poor Refund Services

I bought a iphone and case from an AT&T store for my wife. The wife wanted a different case. A few weeks went by and I tried to return it. There was a 30min wait! There were only about 15 customers in the store! I said, why don’t you have a register that caters to quick transactions like a refund.

They were like, ya, that would be better, but we don’t. I got upset and left. I tried again a few weeks later and the same thing. Too long of a wait. I tried again a few months later in the morning and they said they can’t do a return past 30 days. Weak! Any other big box store would be like, “ok, let’s see what we can do”. And maybe offer me a store credit.

But no, not the AT&T store. I have a family plan cell phone service, U-Verse (with cable and internet) and a home phone all through AT&T. And now I’m really ticked off over a dumb $25 case. What I probably hate the most of the situation is there is nobody to complain to within that organization. There is nobody to stick it to. Just left here to simmer in my angst.

  1. 30 days is a standard return period, so what is the problem? It’s your fault, so do not blame them. And trust me, nobody cares how much services/previous transactions you have at a business, so save your air.

    • exactly genius. nobody cares. I own my own business and every customer is essential. not 9 out of 10. the employee at the store admitted there was a problem with how they handled customers. this would not have been an issue if there wasn’t a 30min wait when I was already pressed for time. I waited there 20min before I started to complain. then they told me it would be an additional 10-20min before someone could help me. there wasn’t a physical line, it was the “i have an ipad so i’ll be cool and punch in your name, now you’ll appear on the screen and now I’m going to stand around to see if there is any thing else i can do other than help you with that refund”. seriously, if he had a register instead of that dumb ipad, i would have been in and out in 10min or less. curtis, you’re a real tool for not reading this closely enough. fail dude. fail.

      • Hey, I work for ATT. I would like to start out by saying there is clearly a 30 day return period which if you read the receipt you will see. However, with that being said you can always call customer care (1800-331-0500) And see if the rep will give you a $25 courtesy credit. They are not required too, but most of them will if you are nice. DO NOT call in stating “you’re going to give me a credit” because you will simply piss us off and we wont do anything for you. From what I’ve heard the ATT retail store reps have any credit they give taken out of their commission. I would believe it because they always call in and have us credit it. Regardless, give the number a call and hopefull you’ll get a nice rep that will try to help you.

  2. On another subject, AT&T puts out a TV commercial that advertises high speed internet for $14.95. They do not state that this rate is only for new subcribers. However, on the bottom of the screen in very small print and for only for a very short time It may state this. AT&T should at least have the decency to state orally that this only applies to new customers and not waste my time inquiiring about this $14.95 rate.
