Dear Facebook, my name is Douglas Timmins and I recently posted Last Friday a picture which was already in the public realm of a very young black child being maced by a military policeman in Rio de Janeiro. There is no dispute by the police or any other Brazilian body of authority that this picture is real. As I have already said, it is in the public realm by being published by O Globo a newspaper in Brazil during March 2011. And in several other newspapers. You blocked my account yesterday Saturday 29th october 2011. Later when I checked my computer you announced that you had removed this human rights violation picture.
Hours previously to that you had removed another post a photo of a man eating a hot dog in front of a painting. With the removal of the picture I suggest that within your organisation which was set up for the people and not for repressive governments. Your latest missive to me has blocked my account by saying that it has been accessed by an unknown location and in order to restore it I must go through an endless identification parade of facebook friends back gardens and blurred photographs. This is cat and mouse and you know it. It is a violation of my human rights and you are being racist against the little black child being maced.
Several million people have now seen this picture. If some your staff are being suppressed by government or colluding with repression of free speech, there will be very soon no facebook because decent people will be frightened that you have become an arm of government.
