I went to macys to purchase some items using my new credit card, mind you when i received it i asked what was the limit several employees told me the was none. As i proceeded to pay for the items my card was declined. Not only was i embarresed i couldn’t get the items for my child who’s going away to college. When i called customer service and there cooperate office they were very un perfessional. There response was pay the bill and you can use the card. So i took my business else were and will be canceling my card. Macys need to train there employees better.

Same thing happened to me this afternoon! After years of buying at Macys and never signing up for a Macys card, I broke down and REGRETFULLY did so today since I was to get a 20% discount on “all” of my purchases that day, shop there all the time and so on. I also reasoned that I will pay the card in full when the bill came in as I normally do to avoid a finance charge. Anyways, I purchased a gift in the woman’s handbag (approx $300) department and specifically asked if I could continue shopping in the men’s department using my 20% discount since I just opened the card, “no problem at all” the sales person told me. I even signed up and donated $25 for a promotion that they were having and was to receive further discounts. So I go on my merry way to the men’s department, try on a outfits and proceed to the cashier and after much confusion and literally 30 plus minute time elapse, the cashier putting me on the phone twice with Macys lax credit department person, it was deemed my card was denied (“not approved”) and they wanted me to make a payment on the handbag first! I have A plus credit! I told the cashier, I just opened it not even 30 minutes ago! I marched back to the sales woman in the handbag department and she was going to get a “manager” aka butter teeth and she knows he can fix this problem. Long story short, although they put on a show (I saw right through it) like they were doing something, they DID NOT DO JACK! Not even an apology for the “miscommunication” or fib just so she can ring up a sale. Greed, lies, embarrassment, wasting my time, ruining my shopping experience for what! Greed! I was about to give up and walk out of the store but something drew me back to the men’s department where I left all of my clothes, told the cashier about the POOR customer service in the “handbag section” and after all of the stress (its literally an hour now…) he gets his Manager Teresa and she does the right thing. Teresa made it happen unlike the butter teeth punks in the “handbag department”. Teresa saved me $100.00 on my bill, made it happen like a real manager. Thanks Teresa in the mens department!! Handbag lady, you fooled me and you suck, your butter toothed Manager needs a slap across his face, and MACY’S instore credit department SUCKS! Needless to say and judging on the other MACY credit card complaints, I will pay the handbag in full when the bill arrives and shut this SUCK MACY Credit card down. They will not earn a dime of my money. Too many more details to write about my horrid shopping and credit experience at Macy’s, so BEWARE…
