The owner and operator of LongHorn Steakhouse are Darden Restaurants, Inc., with headquarters in Orlando, Florida. There were 559 LongHorn Steakhouse locations in 2016 which generated $1.6 billion in sales. Brian and George McKerrow, Jr. founded LongHorn Steakhouse in 1981. In the 1970s and 1980s, McKerrow worked as a manager for Quinn's Mill Restaurant, the US-based subsidiary of Victoria Station, a concept that utilized railroad cars as dining areas. Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia, was the first location, originally named LongHorn Steaks Restaurant & Saloon. Originally an antique store, it later served as an adult entertainment venue. Some booths were still divided by recycled black partitions, and the walls were still painted black. Cowboy memorabilia and steer heads adorned the walls. Grilled steaks were served in a butter sauce with the LongHorn.
