Nomad Restaurant is a full-service restaurant located in the heart of downtown Ottawa. The Nomad Restaurant and Bar is an American restaurant chain headquartered in Kansas City, Misstheiri. It was founded in 1984 by Rick Sammon as a take-out restaurant, with the first restaurant opening in Johnson County, Kansas. In 1987, Sammon purchased the franchise rights to the name Nomad and opened his first location in Overland Park, Kansas. After moving to Kansas City, Sammon changed the company company's name to "Nomad". In 1993, Nomad expanded its operations by opening its first restaurant in the Midwestern United States. There are 34 Nomad restaurants located in ten different states across the Midwest and South.
