A Tampa, Florida-based chain of restaurants serving American cuisine with an Australian theme, Outback Steakhouse. In North and South America, Asia, and Australia, there are over 1,000 locations of the chain. Bob Basham, Chris T. Sullivan, Trudy Cooper, and Tim Gannon founded the company in March 1988 with its first location in Tampa. Before being acquired by Bloomin' Brands and other franchise and venture agreements, it was owned and operated in the United States by OSI Restaurant Partners; as a result of the stock repurchase, OSI Restaurant Partners became privately owned on June 14, 2007. Outback Steakhouse's current owner Bloomin' Brands, filed with the SEC to raise $300 million in an IPO in April 2012. Under the ticker symbol "BLMN," Bloomin' Brands, Inc. is now listed on NASDAQ.
