Chester's International, commonly called Chester's or Chester's Chicken, is a fast-food restaurant that specializes in fried chicken based in Birmingham, Alabama. Chester's began operating in October 1965 when W.O. Giles adopted Chester the Chicken as the company's mascot, named after the Chester Goode character on Gunsmoke, a favourite television show of Giles's. Mountain Brook, Alabama, became the company's new headquarters in late 2012.
Chester's remains a family-owned business with over 1200 locations across the US and Canada and has an aggressive growth strategy. It mainly consists of convenience stores and supermarkets with store-in-store concepts.
