Chili's Grill & Bar is a chain of casual dining restaurants in America. Larry Lavine founded the company in Texas in 1975, and it is currently owned and operated by Brinker International. In 1975, Chili opened its first location in Dallas, a converted post office on Greenville Avenue. Chili's originally located on Greenville Avenue moved to a new building on the same site in 1981 before relocating once again in 2007.
A burger restaurant with a full-service menu featuring different types of hamburgers was Lavine's concept. Chili's proved to be a success, and in the early 1980s, 28 locations in the region featured similar Southwest decor.
