Most software review sites are free to read because vendors pay for them. That is not a scandal, but it shapes what you see. We checked each major site's own pages and public reporting against six questions, and put HissingKitty through the same test.
One change matters this year: in January 2026 G2 agreed to buy Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice from Gartner, so four big review sites now share an owner.
