Responsible AI
Last updated October 22, 2026
We write about teams using AI to build their own software, so we hold ourselves to clear rules about how we use it.
People Decide What Goes Live
- A person checks every report, review and listing before it's published. No AI decides whether anything is approved, rejected or edited.
- Reports, reviews, ratings, listings and votes come only from the people who add them. We never generate any of them with AI.
- Reasons teams leave are counted with fixed keyword rules anyone can read on the methodology page, not by an AI model.
Stories and Research
- We may use AI tools to help draft and edit stories and research.
- A person checks every fact, number and quote against its source before anything is published. If we can't confirm it, we leave it out.
- Estimates and forecasts are labeled as estimates and forecasts in the sentence where they appear.
- A story is published only from a named source: the team's written approval, or on-the-record reporting we link to.
Images
We don't use AI-generated images of people, places or events. Photos and screenshots are real and credited. Story share images are plain graphics of the story's headline numbers.
Outreach
When we invite someone to add a report, a person writes and sends the message by hand. We never send automated replies or direct messages.
The Estimator
The Build vs. Buy estimator uses fixed formulas and averages, explained on our methodology page. It doesn't use AI to produce your result.
Your Data
We don't sell report data, emails or uploads to anyone, including to train AI models. Published pages are public and can be read by search engines and AI systems, like any public website. Your email and uploaded proof are never public. See our privacy policy.
Tell Us If We Get It Wrong
If you see something on HissingKitty that looks machine-written and wrong, or a number without a source, please tell us. We'll check it and fix it.
